THE KEEPERS
A lighthouse keeper or lightkeeper is a person responsible for tending and caring for a lighthouse, particularly the light and lens in the days when oil lamps and clockwork mechanisms were used.
Lighthouse keepers were sometimes referred to as "wickies" because of their job trimming the wicks so that the light never dies.
Trimming of our ‘teacher wicks’ is so necessary so as to shine brighter into the lives and minds of our students so that they can reach their potential.
At the same time, the quality of our students cannot surpass the quality of our teachers!
Yes, we, the teacher leaders in GYPS, have a responsibility, a sacred duty to shine, as well as make others shine and keep them shining for we are THE LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS!
“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.” Dwight L. Moody
